Willis Re Life Solutions Group announces completion of annuity reinsurance transaction

June 16, 2021

ARLINGTON, VA, June 16, 2021 — The Willis Re Life Solutions Group announced the completion of an annuity reinsurance transaction between Modern Woodmen of America and RGA Reinsurance Company. Modern Woodmen is a fraternal financial services organization, and RGA is a wholly owned subsidiary of Reinsurance Group of America, Incorporated, a leading global life, annuity and health reinsurer. Under the agreement, RGA has reinsured a seasoned block of U.S. annuity business, while Modern Woodmen will continue to service and administer the contracts.

The Life Solutions Group served as Modern Woodmen’s advisor and broker for the transaction. The mutually beneficial reinsurance partnership has met Modern Woodmen’s capital and risk management objectives while also contributing to RGA’s continued growth in asset-intensive business.

“Our purpose as a reinsurance advisor is to craft solutions that meet our clients’ objectives while also ensuring the counterparty provides the right balance of financial strength, supportive partnership and attractive deal terms,” said Mike Kaster, lead broker for this transaction and executive vice president of the Life Solutions Group. “We are happy to say this transaction succeeded on all fronts.”

The transaction closed June 3, 2021, with an effective date of April 1, 2021; additional terms are not being disclosed.
