The absence of women from leadership roles in Asia is both intriguing and disquieting. What has held women back from progressing to this point in their careers? 

A recent study issued by Willis Towers Watson in partnership with the Economist Corporate Network finds that women in Asia still face significant barriers on their career journeys towards the C-suite. At focus groups across the region, senior women executives pointed to lingering social and gender norms as causing a drain of women at the mid-level. Women in Leadership in Asia throws light on these issues, including what employers can do to foster a diverse and inclusive workforce — our data shows that simply putting in place practical measures such as flexible work arrangements may be insufficient.
