With mental health costing employers up to £56bn[1] each year in absenteeism, staff turnover and lost productivity, and stress, depression and anxiety accounting for 49 % of all work related ill health cases[2], it makes good business sense to invest in training and support to ensure the wellbeing of your workforce.

Employers have a legal duty of care to protect the health and safety of their employees whilst at work, which includes psychological health and safety. Sustaining employee wellbeing in the long term requires active involvement at organisational level using a combined approach of preventative and management strategies.

Our health and wellbeing specialists offer a range of services to support your organisation in creating a mentally healthy workplace and managing psychosocial risks to reduce exposure to workplace stress. Through risk management training, reviews, workshops and awareness programmes, we help support your organisation sustain long term employee wellbeing.     Psychological health and safety risk insight review

    This review will carry out an analysis of your organisations current arrangements, responsibilities, policies and procedures for managing workplace stress and mental health. The process will involve discussions with key individuals in your business including HR, health and safety and learning and development. This review will highlight the strengths and weaknesses in your present arrangements and recommend solutions aligned to ISO45003 guidelines.

    Workplace stress risk assessment support

    Our health and wellbeing specialists can provide guidance on your strategy for managing workplace stress as well as support and assistance with your internal workplace stress assessment to help you achieve regulatory compliance. This may include help with understanding your organisations stress hotspots, facilitating focus groups to obtain employee feedback and supporting you in devising your action plans.

Stress and mental health awareness e-learning

To help organisations manage risk arising from poor mental health we have developed online training that can be used as part of any wellbeing strategy. Our online essentials course raises awareness about stress and mental health and empowers learners to manage their own wellbeing and support their colleagues, family and friends.

Mental Health First Aid

Mental Health First Aid (“MHFA”) is an internationally recognised training course designed to teach people to spot the signs of mental ill health and provide help on a first aid basis.

This is the most in-depth MHFA course and teaches attendees to be Mental Health First Aiders (MHFAiders®). The training is grounded in research and developed with clinical practitioners. It is proven to increase MHFAiders® confidence in supporting people.

Mental Health First Aid Champion

The Adult Mental Health First Aid Champion course is used to train up Mental Health First Aid Champions. This course is ideal for workplace settings, covering aspects of mental health and stress in the workplace.

Mental Health Aware

The Mental Health Aware course is a half day course designed to raise awareness about mental health. The course is delivered by an Accredited MHFA England Instructor Member through slides, video clips, activities, conversation practice, quizzes discussion and case studies.

Mental Health First Aid Refresher

To maintain competence and confidence in the role of a Mental Health First Aider, MHFA refresher training is required every three years. Enabling your MHFAiders® to refresh their skills, the same way your physical first aiders do, is a great way to demonstrate your organisation’s commitment to treating mental health and physical health equally.

Mental Health Skills for Managers

The relationship between managers and their team members is key for the health and wellbeing of the whole organisation. Delivered by workplace mental health experts, this course builds skills in your leaders to feel confident to have mental health conversations as part of their everyday management.

Stress and Mental Health in the Workplace

Organisations are increasingly starting to see the benefits of promoting a healthy workforce with the introduction of strategic wellbeing programmes becoming more prevalent. Stress and poor mental health in the workplace can impact negatively on performance and productivity resulting in financial losses through high levels of sickness absence, disruption to schedules and a knock-on effect for other employees, reduced productivity and high staff turnover. This is in addition to the human cost in terms of the detrimental impact on health.

The How of ‘Hybrid’ Workshop

Exactly what ‘hybrid’ looks like in terms of the where and when will vary by individuals but many of the risks and opportunities surrounding the ‘how’ will be the same. This series of workshops focuses on:

Managing Uncertainty Webinar

Our ‘Managing Uncertainty in Uncertain Times’ training session is designed to help individuals cope with external stressors and protect their psychological health and safety. The webinar will equip individuals with a resilience toolkit to protect their psychological health and safety both in and out of the workplace.

Making Time for Helpful Habits and Self Care Webinar

This session focusses on the importance of self-care and will be a mix of presentation, reflective and interactive exercises to engage attendees and encourage them to think about their own selfcare practices.
