Marco Pagani, Hazard Coordinator for the Global Earthquake Model, speaks about the collaboration between Willis Towers Watson and GEM, and cutting-edge research he envisages in the next 5-10 years.

Marco Pagani serves as the coordinator of the hazard team at the Global Earthquake Model (GEM) Foundation. He received a Master degree in Geological Sciences and a PhD degree in Earth Sciences from the University of Milan. Dr Pagani has over 20 years of experience in probabilistic seismic hazard analysis, seismic microzonation and exploratory data analysis. He is leading the scientific development of the hazard component of the OpenQuake Engine and coordinating the compilation GEM's global mosaic of hazard models. In addition, he is currently involved in various seismic hazard and risk projects including major companies operating in the financial and the engineering sectors.

Willis Research Network was one of the first participants of GEM back in 2009. Gem are providing more matured products that are useful and needed for the risk management industry. The partnership we have allows GEM products to be ported into application. Models for seismic hazard, for the calculation of risk, exposure databases, active fault databases etc.
