MELBOURNE, 28 July 2021 – Willis Towers Watson (NASDAQ: WLTW), a leading global advisory, broking and solutions company, today announces the appointment of Aongus O’Gorman to lead the Australian Investments team. O’Gorman succeeds Martin Goss, who has made the decision to focus on client consulting work.

O’Gorman, who is currently Head of Delegated & Specialist Solutions for Investments Australia, will take on the new role from 1 August 2021.

Taro Ogai, Head of Investments, Asia Pacific at Willis Towers Watson (WTW) said O’Gorman’s appointment would spearhead a refreshed Australian leadership team. “Aongus has been responsible for our Australian Delegated business for most of his six years with WTW, which has seen us deliver a new service to the market and acquire many new client relationships. Over the 25 years of his career, Aongus has been an asset owner, asset manager and investment consultant. This broad range of experience ideally places him to lead our investment team in Australia.”

Paying tribute to Martin Goss, who has been in the role for the past five years, Ogai added: “Given a number of recent client wins, Martin is returning to full-time consulting work. He has been an instrumental part of WTW’s development of a multi-pillar investment offering to clients over the course of his leadership, fulfilling WTW’s vision of a new approach to investment consulting. It is now an optimal time for a new leader to take the reins. Retaining Martin’s experience and profile within the institutional investment community in Australia will be a valuable adjunct for Aongus as he positions WTW for ongoing success.”

Commenting on his new role, Aongus said: “It’s an exciting time to take on this opportunity. Over the last few years, we have augmented our traditional asset consulting with strategic advisory and delegated solutions because we firmly believed it was in the best interests of clients and would help meet their future needs.

While this transition has created great challenges, topping the Peter Lee Associates Investment Management survey in Australia for the second year in a row is a strong indication that clients appreciate our distinct approach. It demonstrates the strength of our client relationships and that clients value our capabilities in research and investment strategy in particular. This intellectual property is at the core of our advice, regardless of how it is delivered, and is what sets us apart. The survey is also a strong testimonial that WTW clients rank the Investments team as the market leader for performance against KPIs, portfolio performance, quality of peer benchmarking and reasonable fees.”

O’Gorman added: “Martin has brought together a highly capable and energetic team in Australia that is backed by significant global resources. It is something that resounds very positively with our clients and I look forward to continuing that.”

O’Gorman began his career as a hedge fund manager within a well-known family office in Dublin, before moving to Australia in 2001. For much of the 2000s, he held various portfolio management roles at QIC in Brisbane, ultimately heading up the firm’s Implemented Solutions team. He built his own consulting business from 2010 and joined WTW in 2015.
