We know that education is the key to creating understanding and acknowledgement of the experiences of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and what it means to move forward together. By enhancing our own knowledge and understanding of Australia’s First People, we will gain a richer base with which to engage clients, through our shared experiences, and through our shared vision for a reconciled Australia.
Globally, our company is committed to diversity and inclusion, with much of our effort to date focussed on common issues affecting equality worldwide.
There has, however, been an increasing call from within our Australian colleague base to take specific local action in relation to reconciliation with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
We have therefore taken action to develop a Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), driven by the commitment and passion of our colleagues. This will drive a substantial and sustainable impact on the way in which we understand, engage and celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and cultures as well as to provide tangible opportunities to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
The RAP program provides a framework for organisations to support the national reconciliation movement. WTW's RAP includes practical actions that will drive our contribution to reconciliation both internally and in the communities where we operate.
The RAP Program contributes to advancing the five dimensions of reconciliation by supporting organisations to develop respectful relationships and create meaningful opportunities with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. WTW's Reflect RAP sets out a number of elements that we will work towards, in order to build strong relationships, respect and opportunities within our organisation and community.
